La comunidad de Fasta Costa Rica festejó ayer el Día de la Independencia de su país.
Datos interesantes sobre el Día de la Independencia de Costa Rica
Para cada país alrededor del mundo, el Día de la Independencia tiene un significado y formas en que la gente celebra su herencia, el patriotismo y la historia. Aquí en Costa Rica, el Día de la Independencia se celebra todos los años el 14 y 15 de septiembre. Si bien es cierto que en el país hay tradiciones especiales, también existe una manera similar para celebra esos días a lo largo de todo el país.
Después de la Guerra de Independencia de México, a Costa Rica así como al resto de Centroamérica se le concedió su independencia de España el 15 de septiembre de 1821. En este día fue que Costa Rica comenzó a redefinir su identidad como país. Desde entonces se llevan a cabo algunas costumbres año tras año para recordar este día tan especial y significativo.
Aquí están algunos hechos e información sobre el Día de la Independencia de Costa Rica:
El recorrido de la Antorcha
A partir del 9 de septiembre la gente en Guatemala enciende la antorcha de la independencia y luego a pie la llevan a través de Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, terminando en Cartago, Costa Rica el día 14, la víspera del Día de la Independencia. La antorcha se ha convertido en un importante símbolo nacional de Costa Rica.
Faroles
Faroles o linternas, son una parte muy importante de las celebraciones del Día de la Independencia. Estas linternas hechas a mano son un homenaje a Dolores Bedoya, que en 1821 tomó solamente una linterna alrededor de Guatemala con el mensaje de que ahora eran naciones independientes. En estos días las escuelas a lo largo de Costa Rica animan a sus estudiantes a elaborar estos faroles con materiales reciclados, decorándolos con los símbolos patrios, stickers divertidos y otras cosas más. Entonces en la tarde del 14 de septiembre los padres y los niños se reúnen en las ciudades para conmemorar a Bedoya desfilando con sus linternas a lo largo de las calles.
Aquí en Costa Rica, el Día de la Independencia las personas aman celebrar tanto la noche anterior así como en el mismo día, 15 de septiembre. Como se mencionó anteriormente los niños decoran linternas y los utilizan mientras desfilan por las calles en la víspera del Día de la Independencia. Además de eso, hay comúnmente un desfile de la mañana del Día de la Independencia. Las ciudades y las calles se llenan de niños que usan la vestimenta tradicional de Costa Rica y llevan a cabo los bailes tradicionales de Costa Rica. Los vendedores ambulantes se alinean para vender recuerdos y comida de la cocina local durante todos los desfiles y las fiestas.
